Hair transplant in Georgia or Türkiye?
The clinic matters far more than the country. Türkiye has outstanding surgeons and the world's largest concentration of high-volume package clinics. Georgia is a smaller market, which usually means fewer procedures per surgeon per day. Rather than choosing a country, compare four things: who performs the extraction, whether you are quoted grafts or hairs, whether grafts are counted during surgery, and who follows your growth for the next twelve months.
We repair a steady number of transplants performed abroad, so we see the failure modes often. Almost none of them are caused by the country on the invoice. They are caused by a graft count nobody verified, a donor area harvested too hard, or hair placed at an angle it will never lie flat at.
What actually differs
Generalisations about either country will be wrong for some clinic in it. Use this as a list of things to ask, not as a verdict.
| At Hairline, Tbilisi | Typical in Türkiye | What it means for you | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who performs the extraction | Surgeon-led, with the same team through the procedure | Varies widely – from fully surgeon-led to largely technician-performed | Ask specifically who holds the punch, and who makes the incisions. |
| Graft counting | Counted live during surgery; you receive the confirmed number | Usually reported after the procedure | A count you cannot verify is the single biggest source of disappointment. |
| Grafts vs hairs in the quote | Quoted and counted in grafts | Both are used – some quotes are in hairs | One graft holds 1–4 hairs. The same number means very different surgery. |
| Procedures per day | A small number, scheduled around the surgeon | Ranges from single-case clinics to high-volume operations | Volume is not automatically bad – but it changes how long each graft waits. |
| Typical package | Procedure, three hotel nights, airport transfers, preoperative PRP and tests, medication and supplements, six months of hair-care products and a year of remote follow-up | Often bundles hotel and transfers into a headline price | Compare what is inside each price before comparing the prices. |
| Follow-up | Remote reviews through the twelve-month growth period | Varies; often ends when you fly home | Growth takes a year. Ask who is watching it. |
What Türkiye genuinely does well
Turkish clinics performed the volume that made modern FUE affordable, and the best of them are among the most experienced hair surgeons anywhere. High caseload builds real skill. If you are choosing a well-reviewed, surgeon-led Turkish clinic that counts your grafts, you are in good hands and the price will likely beat ours.
Where the model creates risk
The risk is not Türkiye – it is the package model at its cheapest end. When a headline price has to cover a hotel, transfers and an agency commission, something absorbs the difference. Most often that is the graft count, the time each follicle spends outside the body, or how much of the work a surgeon personally does.
Four questions worth asking anywhere
Including here. If a clinic will not answer these plainly, that is your answer.
- Who physically performs the extraction and makes the recipient incisions? Technician involvement is normal and legal in many countries. You are entitled to know the split.
- Is this quote in grafts or in hairs? 2,000 grafts is roughly 4,000–5,000 hairs. 2,000 hairs is roughly 800–1,000 grafts. Quotes that mix the two are not comparable.
- Will my grafts be counted during surgery, and will I get that number in writing? This is the one that most often separates the result you paid for from the result you get.
- Who reviews my growth at three, six and twelve months? A transplant is judged at a year, not at discharge.
Common questions
Is a hair transplant in Georgia better than in Türkiye?
Neither country is uniformly better – the clinic matters far more than the border. Türkiye has excellent surgeons and also the highest concentration of high-volume package clinics in the world. Georgia is a smaller market with less price competition, which tends to mean smaller caseloads per surgeon. Judge the individual clinic on who performs the surgery, how grafts are counted, and what happens during the year afterwards.
Why is Türkiye cheaper?
Scale and competition. A clinic performing many procedures a day spreads its fixed costs much further, and intense local competition pushes headline prices down. That model produces genuinely good results for many patients – the risk is that cost pressure shows up somewhere you cannot see, most often in how many grafts you actually receive.
What should I ask any clinic before booking?
Four questions separate most quotes: Who physically performs the extraction and the incisions? Are you quoting grafts or hairs? Will the grafts be counted during surgery and will I get that number in writing? And who reviews my growth at months three, six and twelve?
Do you repair transplants done in Türkiye?
Yes, and it is a significant part of our surgical work. We assess the case on the donor area and the existing result, not on where the first procedure was performed.
