What is the most effective treatment for hair loss?
For male pattern loss, finasteride addresses the cause and minoxidil supports the follicles, and the two together are the best-evidenced combination available. For women, minoxidil is the mainstay alongside correcting any underlying thyroid, iron or hormonal problem. PRP, mesotherapy and laser therapy are supporting measures rather than foundations.
Do I have to take it forever?
For pattern hair loss, effectively yes. Medical treatment holds a line against a progressive condition; it does not cure it. Stopping returns you to the trajectory you would have been on, usually within six to twelve months. Treatment for a reversible cause – iron deficiency, thyroid disorder, telogen effluvium – is different, and stops when the cause is corrected.
Can treatment replace a hair transplant?
Sometimes, and that is a good outcome. Medical treatment works on follicles that are still alive, so it can restore worthwhile density where loss is early and active. Where follicles are already gone, nothing regrows them and only transplantation adds hair to that area. Most patients end up using both – treatment to protect what remains, surgery to restore what was lost.
Will I need treatment after a transplant?
Usually. Transplanted hair is permanent, but the native hair around it is not protected by the surgery and continues on its own path. Continuing medical treatment is what stops you needing a second procedure in a few years to fill in the gaps that appeared around the first.
Do you offer scalp micropigmentation?
No. Hairline International does not offer trichopigmentation or scalp micropigmentation. If your case is better served by it than by surgery, the assessment will say so and refer you on.
